Questions To Ask When Doing a Monologue

The most important thing to remember when delivering your monologue is that you are not the one saying the words. You must consider what the given circumstances of the monologue are, as well as the character you are portraying. As an actor you must make many choices in creating the character (and the monologue). You must find a way to personalize the role by asking yourself some important questions. These questions could include the following.

What is the mood?
When is this scene taking place?
Where is this scene taking place?
What do I think my character would sound like?
What do I think my character would look like?
